It was fun to rotate teachers and get to know a little bit about their personalities. I was an absolute Spanish beginner, so I appreciated the encouragement and the way the teachers wove humor and fun into the lessons. Sweet, smart, and conscientious, it was fun getting to know their personalities. All the Spanish teachers who worked with me knew their stuff. Everything was comfortable and enjoyable, and the staff were attentive. Although the pictures online might seem a little garish, in person, the place offers a rich, artsy charm. Although we had a very packed schedule, every aspect of it was enriching, fun, and unexpectedly restorative. Coming off of a pretty intense work situation, I was looking forward to the trip, but a bit nervous about the potential for being "over-stimulated" or taxed from the Spanish lessons. I attended Spanish Immersion combined with Yoga with Adriene in May/June 2019. Kudos to Sonia and Carlos for creating this amazing program. Next year, Fluenz will have courses in the beautiful city of Oaxaca and also in Barcelona.

The good news is that the learning doesn't stop after the Immersion week - you still have free access to the Fluenz online program and an opportunity to keep on working with the many outstanding coaches that you worked with during the week onsite (for a fee).Īlso, you can always return for a refresher course. Included were yoga classes, a visit to the Frida Kahlo museum and (so special) an after-hours expertly guided tour of the Anthropology Museum - not to mention an unbelievable dinner at Pujol - currently rated 12 on the list of the top 50 restaurants in the world. I learned so much in my week there, including greatly improving my listening comprehension.īut it wasn't all work. And then you have access to the online course to build up your skills before showing up in CDMX. The course starts with a telephone assessment of your Spanish skills. The folks at Fluenz really want you to learn Spanish. I would most highly recommend it for anyone interested in improving their language skills, novices and experts. The Fluenz Spanish Immersion is one of my favorite things I've ever done for myself. If given the opportunity, I would love to do it all again.Įveryone on the team worked hard to make it a memorable experience. The food was outstanding, fresh and representative of the local cuisine.

The cultural events (poets, museums, restaurants) increased my desire to learn Spanish and made me more appreciative of Mexican history, art, and culture. The accommodations were beautiful and the perfect backdrop for our experience. I knew no Spanish when I went to Mexico City in June, and when I left I could understand conversations, speak in sentences, and was motivated to continue my journey of becoming more proficient with my Spanish. We laughed and learned together like we were old friends. Sonia has built a team of interesting and patient mentors who bring lots of life and language experiences with them. The Fluenz Spanish Immersion experience exceeded all expectations.
